How to safely travel by public transport now

Source- Intelligent Transport

The lockdown has eased in several parts of the world and public transports are now functional in many cities. Many people rely on public transport for their daily commute to offices. As the restrictions have lifted and people are going back to work, traveling via public transport is not going to be the same as before. People will be more cautious and safety guidelines will also be revised for the same.

Congestion and overcrowding are going to be the main issues that transport authorities will have to handle. It will not only keep people from opting for using this mode of transport but it is also going to change the estimated arrival time for many people.

While there is nothing much that can be done about it, to make sure that you are safe while traveling in public transport you can take some precautions. Here are some tips on how you can keep yourself relatively safe.

  • Make sure you stay at least 6 feet apart from other passengers
  • Always wear a mask and carry a hand sanitizer when traveling by bus or metro
  • Avoid touching surfaces which are commonly touched by other people
  • Do not crowd the doorways while entering or exiting the transport
  • Avoid occupying the immediate next seat unless you are going to sit with a family member
  • Try to leave earlier than you used to make sure you reach on time and can take all the necessary precautions
  • Use cashless modes of transaction while paying for your tickets
