The International flying had been halted since 25th March and only the domestic flights were allowed to resume from 25th May. The pandemic caused many countries to close its borders to international flyers to curb the spread of the virus and some flights were only operational to bring back the stranded passengers from other countries.
India has finally decided to restart the operations of its passenger flights from the US. The Indian government has given permission to the US Transportation Department to restart its flight operations from July 23.
Air bubble flights may also be operational between India and Maldives as the matter is still under review. This will allow the facilitation of a limited number of flights between India and the Maldives.
According to reports, 16 airlines have already announced that their flights would be operational from the Maldives.
“Till international civil aviation can reclaim its pre-COVID numbers, I think the answer will lie in bilateral air bubbles, which will carry a number of people but under defined conditions as countries, including India are still imposing entry restriction.”, the aviation Minister said.
