Birds are beautiful and ask any bird lover they will tell you stories about how they spend hours looking for species. Sultanpur National Park is a beautiful bird sanctuary that is a haven for migratory and resident birds.
Last winter I spent a day here to check out the beauty of this place and its proximity to Gurgaon makes it an ideal weekend destination. Try visiting it in winters (right now is good!) as you get to see many migratory birds too.
There are around 250 bird species which have been documented in the park. The Siberian Crane, Common Teal, Northern Pintail, Eurasian Wigeon and many other migratory birds are common here. The sanctuary was given the status of a National Park on 5th July 1991 under Sec-35 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. The best time to visit the place is from Novembers to February. The park is a known picnic spot for many and it has four watching towers located at different places for easy viewing. It also has guest house facilities for those who plan to stay overnight.
