What Skyway is all About?

The major purpose of bringing this project was to reduce the traffic between Dharamshala and McLeodganj since, during the peak tourists’ season, heavy traffic is commonly found on the roads of these two spots. With the operations of Skyway, traffic has been reduced by 9 kilometres, resulting in saving 40% of the travel time.
The Dharamshala Skyway project has been developed with an estimated cost of ₹207 crores and has two stations and 10 towers. The CM of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur had inaugurated the ropeway operations on 19th January 2022 wherein its technology was employed by Mono Cable Detachable Gondolas System with 18 gondolas (cabins).
The fare is fixed at Rs 300 per person for a one-way trip and Rs 500 per person for a round trip and its top station is exactly in front of the Dalai Lama Temple in McLeodganj.
