You might have heard about the popular Elephanta caves in Maharashtra? It’s an amazing historical site and almost everyone who visits Mumbai or stays there, don’t forget to miss this place. Although it’s not that hectic to reach there, as it just takes one hour from ferry to go but not everyone wishes to waste even this much time so for them here’s good news coming.
Recently the central government has approved a project to make a 8-km long ropeway connecting Mumbai to Elephanta Caves so that people who don’t want to travel for 1 hour can opt for this option. The best part about this ropeway idea is, it will just take 14 minutes to reach from Mumbai to Elephanta caves.
Uptill now there’s no confirmed date out for the completion but as per the assumptions it would be finished in 2022, that is four years from now. This ropeway will be constructed over the Arabian Sea, thus making it the first over-the-ocean ropeway of the country.
The project has been taken up by the Mumbai Port Trust, and once it gets completed, a total of 30 cable cars will run on the route. This great news has also been shared on an official insta account after which many people are happy and excited for this to start soon.
