Delhi has many tourist attractions but something new has been added in the list. The Seven Wonders of the World! Yes, the “Waste to Wonder Park” features the replicas of the iconic seven wonder from the world. The theme park has sculptures of the Seven Wonders of the World made of industrial and other kinds of waste.
The park has imitations of the seven wonders, namely, Taj Mahal, Great Pyramid of Giza, Eiffel Tower of Paris, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Christ the Redeemer Statue of Rio De Janeiro, Rome’s Colosseum and the Statue of Liberty of the United States of America. You will find a mini version of them installed at the park.
The wonders are recreated using scraps and waste materials! They have been found from the scrap yards of Municipal Corporation of Delhi and everything from bolts and nuts to automobile parts and iron sheets has been used to design and make these replicas.
About the park:
The park is made under a huge budget of 7.5 crores using 150 tonnes of waste. The inspiration for the park has been taken from Seven Wonders Park in Kota. This park is powered by solar and wind energy. As per reports, about five artists and seven supporting artists worked on this project along with 70 welders and helpers.
Old Sodium lights have been installed within the sculptures to illuminate them which lets the visitors enjoy the beauty and art even during night time.
The park is spread across a five-acre area at Rajiv Gandhi Smrity Van. Nearest metro station is Hazrat Nizamuddin.
About the sculptures:
The replica of the Statue Of Liberty has been developed using seven to eight tonnes of waste by a Delhi based artist. While the pedestal has been created using old pipes, metal railings, and angles, giving the look of bricks, circular rings on it have been created using car rims.
The Great Pyramid of Giza has been created using 10,800 feet scrap angles weighing 10-12 tonnes. Taj Mahal, a symbol of love was created in five and a half months with the help of 24 laborers and 30 tonnes of waste.
The Tower of Pisa has been built using 10.5 tonnes of waste at a 60-80 degree angle.
Entry ticket:
The entry ticket is free for children below the age of three years and for senior citizens above the age of 65. For children between age 3-12 age group, the ticket is priced at Rs 25 and for children above the age of 13 and for adults, the entry fee is Rs 50. For the convenience of visitors, parking facility has also been developed near the park.
