Spotted Lake, Canada
Placed in the Northwest of Osoyoos, this lake is considered sacred by the nearby people. The lake’s water evaporates in summers and small mineral pools are left where every pool has a different color. One can get the view of this lake from Highway 3 which is northwest to Osoyoos.
Derweze, Turkmenistan
This giant desert has been on fire for decades and is located in Karakum Desert. It is known as the door to hell by locals and is now a tourist attractive place. Derweze is rich in natural gas and while drilling in 1971, the ground beneath collapsed, leaving a large hole. To avoid the toxic gas to come out, it was decided to burn it off. It was believed that the fire would use all the fuel after sometime, but, the gas was so powerful that it is still burning. It sounds weird but its sight is amazing to watch.
The Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland
This beautiful place consists of 40,000 basalt columns at the end of the Atlantic and the North Channel. This World Heritage Site is the result of a volcanic eruption from 60 million years back and pulls thousands of visitors to wander on its coastal lanes. It is also described as the hand work of a giant named Finn McCool.
White Desert, Egypt
Want an adventurous camping experience? Head towards the breathtaking views of white sand in White Desert at the border of Sahara. About 5,000 Bedouins are estimated to live in the region and the place would give you a stunning experience.
Thor’s Well, USA
On the Oregon Coast there is a natural hole which seems to be draining the sea, is called the Thor’s well. You can have the alluring view of surf rushing into the hole and then shooting back upwards with great force. You can catch its glimpse by taking the Captain Cook Trail from the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, but beware as getting closer to the high tides can be dangerous.
Pamukkale, Turkey
Situated in western Turkey, Pamukkale has the ruins of Hierapolis, the great city that was built around it. The place is known for its mineral-rich thermal waters which flows down the white travertine terraces on the nearby hillside forming perfect thermal pools to take a dip.
Badab-e-Surat, Iran
The place has alluring travertine terraces formed of limestone which were made by the calcium placed in flowing water thousand years ago. It is a natural site in Mazandaran Province in northern Iran, having unusual red color of the terraces.
The Tianzi Mountains, China
Located in the Hunan Province of China, these mountains are named after Xiang Dakun, a farmer. The place has staggering limestone pinnacles which are covered in lush greenery and fog. A cable car goes till the Huangshi village from where you can get perfect views of this heaven. The scenes will give you a feel like those of movies.
